My journey has taken a total of 15+yrs. I finally got serious with true determination 3 years ago. I was sitting at home like a typical couch potato and decided to go for a walk. Nothing big – down to the bottom of my street and bac, Soon I was up to 3-6 miles a day and I decided to change my eating habit. I talked with some of the guys at work and learned about clean eating and low carb intake. Before I knew it I needed new uniform pants about every 2-3 weeks. Needless to say the uniform lady hated me (lol). I haven’t found a love for the gym but have managed to go from an all time high of 465lbs 15+ yrs ago to 300lbs and with a waist size 48 pants in 2007. In 2013 I started my real journey and today I am maintaining a weight of 150-160lbs. Oh and I just ordered a size 28 inch waist pant.
Getting started and losing people along the way were the hardest challenges. Not everyone has been supportive but I made the decision for myself. I was told if I did things for 7 days they would become habits. I have worked so hard and am so proud that even when I slip I have learned it is OK to treat myself every now and then. Besides that, having some amazing men and women, both in person and online, who I can reach out to and ask questions about meals, exercises or just vent to have really helped me to keep going.
I walk 5-10 miles a night at work, which includes 70-150 flights of stairs. I eat very regimented and clean during my 6 day work week and enjoy treating myself on my day off. Right now I am working on my bucket list and living life to its fullest! My advice to anyone would be above all else remember to do it for yourself. Don’t let the haters get you down. Instead use the negative energy as a push to keep going.
I would like to thank one heck of a couple has been there from the start of my journey – @fit_kaijudo and his wife – @fit_kaijuda. I truly don’t know how to ever thank them enough! I also want to thank @marylynnring for her virtual help and support!
